Initial Trial Complete - Wedge Position went to PR4

One of our earliest trials with our Wedge blogging concept (this was pre-linkylovearmy), put a great article out in front to promote a software product.

The original article was close to 800 words, very strong in keywords, and contained 4 tutorial/demo videos.

We pointed just over a dozen sites to that article and it has a PageRank of 4 today.  That’s PR4 on the Permalink URL!

What Does this Mean?

The Wedge Blogging Concept works!  In fact it works so well, that we are going to start offering missions where bloggers are paid upon completing a write up for their articles that point to other publications.  We will promote great articles for paying publishers, and help them build up their Permalink PR, traffic and social bookmarking hits.

How does this impact our other Campaigns?

The lessons learned from that campaign plus the lessons learned from our very early betas under the LinkyLoveArmy have taught us several valuable lessons.

  1. The article in the Wedge Position has to Rock.  It needs to be a minimum of 200 words, 400 would be considered good, 600 great, 800 prepare to make lots of money!
  2. The wedge article has to be powerfully packed with 5-7% keywords on the topic at hand.  If the article is about Home Depot Gardening Newsletter, then those keywords should be in the article 5-7 times for every 100 words in the article.  If the article has 400 words, then those keywords need to be mentioned 20-28 times total.
  3. The article needs to be bookmarked like crazy by all the linkyLoveArmy soldiers pointing to the wedge position blog.
  4. PageRank doesn’t happen over night.  It takes a while for an article to get picked up and move up in the rankings.  For campaigns like this, we have to think a little more long term.  The article needs to pick up links a few at a time for several days to a couple weeks after its initially written (not 100 within 3 hours of completion - Search Engines will discount the links in bulk)

What’s Next?

We are going to be doing several new things with the linkylovearmy as I mentioned we will be promoting published articles for publishers, even other bloggers  We will continue to do our promotion campaigns as well, but we will look at 2 primary targets:

  1. Targets that do not need linkylove boost, just need an army of bloggers to hit it
  2. Targets that are going to be running for several weeks, possibly months where we can benefit from the linkylove boost on the permalink
