New Spam Controls in the Forum
We have installed some new spam counter measures in the forum.
We sincerely apologize for the spam lately. It has been absurdly ridiculous and it has taken a great deal of time to fight it off. We are hoping that the new counter measures will help, but no spam fighting system is perfect.
We will continue to fight it, but if it continues at past levels we will migrate to a different platform. We are trying to focus directly on the missions and the systems enabling the missions directly. The forums are there primarily for support, but the spam has almost gotten to the point where it is detrimental to the missions.
We will continue to monitor the situation and proceed from there. We do appreciate the offers by several members to help police the forums as moderators. We will definitely consider these offers of assistance seriously, however our goal is to not burden our members with this type of work if we can.
Opening Salvo Update
We are in the early stages of our first campaigns. We have not even mobilized the entire army yet on these campaigns as we await each of our blogger troop formations to run through the zones.
Things seem to be moving along pretty well. This week is going a little slow as we are all doing things that are brand new in some ways. Please keep all the questions coming, I am doing my best to get copies of each of the questions you ask in email, published in the forum. I’d like to ask that if you have questions please do not hesitate to keep sending or replying to emails. However, if you have a spare minute or two it would help the cause significantly if you ask the questions in the forum.
I will be working hard to keep the forums on track for the LinkyLoveArmy and very focused. I’d encourage you to venture over to GeekySpeaky’s forum or to Performancing’s forum if you want to talk shop about items unrelated to the LinkyLoveArmy. They both have excellent resources and a great group of bloggers. There is a great deal of good information as well at the forum at PayPerPost. I did not setup the LLA forum to compete with any of the other great forums, but I did set it up specifically for us to capture useful information so that we can work better together as a team. So if you are in doubt, feel free to post it here!
Follow on Waves Link to those that led the Charge
Over the last 24 hours we have seen several bloggers kick off the second wave of one of our campaigns. A few bloggers have linked to the LinkyLoveArmy in their campaign posts. This is not necessary and not required by the live missions. You are free to link to us if you like, but its not necessary.
That said, we do want you to point to the troops that led the charge ahead of you. Think of it like this.
Prepare yourself for bad analogy!
We are storming a castle. The first bloggers run to the castle wall with the ladders, set them against the wall and run to the top of the ladder. But with a blog they can only get halfway up the wall. The next group of bloggers come along and collectively lift up the ladder over their heads. Then the next wave repeats this and the wave after that and so on until the front bloggers get to the top. They get over the wall and run to open the gates for all of us.
So in that analogy it doesn’t help to point back to headquarters (LinkyLoveArmy), but it does help to lift up the troops above you and help them get over the wall.
More Bigger Buttons
We have increased the size of the buttons in the menu above to make it easier to find the registration options. The ‘Register’ button is for general registration and for entering your first and any additional blog url.
The B2C Register button is for registering for the consumer campaigns. You will receive missions for consumer campaigns but will not be able to get all the details you need to participate until you register in this additional system.
Working on Requests
We hope to get an alternate Email field set up shortly for new recruits and for existing (some battle hardened) soldiers. I’ll keep you posted on this and let you know how to add the alternate when its ready.
Regards,
Colonel Love
Missions Delivered by Email - Update Your Contacts Now!
We will be sending some of our first missions out to our new members very soon. If you registered with an email service such as yahoo, aim, hotmail, gmail etc. please add Colonel.love at linkylovearmy dot com to your contacts so that you can receive our missions without the mission going into your spam/junk/bulk email folders by default.
Everyone that has registered so far should have received a welcome email from the same address. If you did not, please check your folders and make sure you add us to your contacts soon so that you will not miss the initial missions.
Initial missions will go out staggered over a several day period. The bloggers that will comprise the point of the wedge formation will receive their missions first. They will have 24 hours to complete their mission and submit their permalink to the LLA Headquarters (more info on this to follow!).
LLA Headquarters will take those permalinks and the campaign url target and create missions for the scouts, who will have 24 hours, then the marines who will have 24 hours, and so on all the way down through the wedge until the entire army is deployed.
